Alcohol awareness education for work related or legal, criminal charges can some situations be completed online. Persons who have pending charges of DUI (DWI, OWI, OVI) may need to seek approval before registering for online distance education or online courses pertaining to legal court requirements. Minors in possession (MIP) of alcohol or drug paraphernalia cases are sometimes referred in municipal or superior courts at the misdemeanor level and approval to take online alcohol awareness for those charges are generally allowed in certain courts by the court judge.

Employment or work related alcohol awareness and drug awareness education requirements are completely at the discretion of the owner or manager of the business. Many jobs requiring the operation of certain equipment, machinery, and driving on the job may need drug and alcohol testing, treatment and alcohol awareness | drug education, either as terms of pre-employment or as a continued program for prevention. Refinery workers, chemical companies, electrician contractors sometimes need routine alcohol and drug testing for their employees. Employees with alcohol or drug-related issues may need to go though assessments and may be required to take an alcohol awareness and drug awareness course or alcohol/drug courses either online or in-person before being allowed back on the job.
Maryland trucking companies who have long haul, over the road truck drivers who transport large loads can suggest their drivers to take routing drug and alcohol testing and in some cases take alcohol and drug courses for either insurance carrier purposes or for liability reasons of their own. DUI | DWI | OWI | OVI DUII Driving While Intoxicated MIP Alcohol and/or Drug Programs
Maryland traffic violators who drive or operate a motor vehicle upon public highways and streets under the influence of alcohol and charged with a DWI, DUI may need to take an alcohol class which is 8 or more hours in length for court requirements. Although many of the DWI-DWI courses in most cases have the required time of 12 hours long, whether it’s online or in an actual classroom. Generally the 8, 10 and 12 hour alcohol classes are referred to as a level 1 or level I alcohol course, level 2 (II) and level 3 (III) can be 16, 20, 24, 32, 36 and sometimes 72 hours in length. Each state has it’s own rules regarding the minimum time limits. A standard in court-ordered
courses are 12 hours for first offense DUI, DWI. There is an online course available for most cases, alcohol or drug-related, whether it’s for MIP – minors under the legal driving age of 21 in who are in possession of alcohol, possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia, or just about any other court required action.
Pretrial Diversion
Some states allow a pretrial diversion program for drug crimes alcohol or drug awareness course to be taken either online of in a classroom to satisfy an agreement between the defendant and the prosecutor or court solicitor. The rules vary and are determined by each court.
