Ohio State Online Alcohol Course for Ohio State University Students
Ohio State- Every year, approximately 4 million people do something they have never done before: Start college for the first-time. Their backgrounds, characteristics, and reasons for attending college vary widely, but they have at least one thing in common: they see some value in “getting a higher education.” Then in roughly 6 years later, about half of them will have failed to graduate. Even more alarming, about one-third of them will fail to re-enroll beyond their first year. There are anecdotal indications (although not much empirical evidence) that the first 6 weeks of enrollment is critical to first year student success. So it is in the best interests of both students and the institutions they attend to focus attention on the first year of college when trying to solve the problems on our campuses created by alcohol misuse. Efforts to combat the problems of excessive and underage drinking by college students must begin prior to enrollment and continue at least throughout the first year of college.
